During the COVID-19 pandemic, a middle-aged Taiwanese American woman named Vivian, fearing that it might be too late to visit her elderly and critically ill mother, decided to return to Taiwan.

Along the way, she formed an unexpected friendship with her quarantine hostel neighbor, Jennifer. However, as she endured strict isolation measures and social distancing, her sister opposed her meeting her mother to protect her fragile mother. This forced Vivian to make a difficult choice: return to the United States or stick to her original intention of visiting her mother in Taiwan.
